Innovation is one of the most distinctive CRN features, since its birth in 1963.
CRN’s unstinting commitment to fulfilling the owner’ s vision has yielded numerous state-of-the-art solutions to overcome seemingly insurmountable constraints. The shipyard is a true design pioneer. In fact, many of ts functional and aesthetic innovations have become standards for the entire nautical industry. Sanzio Nicolini, the founder of CRN, insisted on an innovative approach in all aspects of construction from day one. It continues to be nowadays, too.
An Elite Approach
Every CRN vessel is the result of elite R&D, cutting-edge technology, expertise, craftsmanship, and masterful naval design and architecture.
To summarize in a few words all CRN’s innovations over more than 60 years of history is almost impossible. But, some key examples are part of nautical history. Overall, they deeply embody the brand commitment to customization and advanced nautical engineering.
Sophisticated Superyachts
For instance, topping the list is the first true explorer, the 32-meter F100 from 1983. She therefore trailblazed a new concept of onboard living. Total soundproofing and touch-and-go helicopter operations were among the features.
The 80s saw a leap forward in technology. Specifically, increasingly sophisticated multimedia systems went aboard CRN yacht in response to demand from North American clients. During the 90s, meanwhile, CRN introduced the concealed anchor. Until then, anchors were not in an enclosed dedicated space, risking impact damage in rough seas.
21ST-Century CRN success
The new century saw epoch-making design innovation. Firstly, the 54-meter Ability in 2006 introduced the open stern. This naturally evolved into the beach club on the 60-meter Blue Eyes from 2009. The balcony progressed into the open terrace on the 54-meter Maraya in 2007. Next, the iconic 60-meter J’Ade, from 2012, has a cutting-edge floating garage. In doing so, she converts a technical zone into a lounge and guest area with an internal pool. That same year, meanwhile, the 60-meter Darlings Danama had an innovative active noise-reduction system.
Additionally, the 55-meter Atlante, from 2015, has an incredible multi-purpose, full-beam area on the aft main deck. Latona, a 50-meter, is an emblem of CRN’s state-of-the-art know-how, too. She is the embodiment of all the shipyard’s most important design innovations.
Passion for Progress
This passion for excellence, this vocation to develop innovative solutions, emerges also in more recent boats and boats under construction. For example, the 62-meter Voice, delivered in 2020, is a contemporary icon. Her special audio equipment provides the pleasure of crystal-clear sound with no impact from the noise of the yacht. The 60-meter Comfortably Numb, a 2022 launch, is a unicum. This high-performance superyacht focuses on generous living areas and a powerful sense of spaciousness, simultaneously achieving exacting weight and speed requirements. These include a top speed of over 25 knots.
Regarding superyachts under construction, the 67-meter 143 Project Maranello has a state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion system. She’ll cruise with the main engines only or with the gensets only, for greater energy efficiency. Furthermore, she has a heat-recovery system to supply hot water, reducing costs and energy impact while ensuring prompt, efficient service. Finally, the 70-meter 145 Project Thunderball has a peak-shaving system. This is an energy-storage system that keeps the electricity curve as flat as possible and controls onboard utilities. It also allows operations in silent mode at anchor.
CRN’S Commitment
Exploring future trends is the brand’s daily mission, to provide inspiration for many a new build. This involves a constant collaboration between the Technical Department, the project management team, a select group of world-class architects and designers, and a highly specialized in-house R&D group who work on new projects every day.
