What Jeddah Yacht Club offers to superyachts attending the Formula 1

The Formula 1 race returns to Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this year, having been rescheduled for mid-April instead of the traditional March dates. The event week is set from 14 to 21 April, with the core racing action taking place from 18 to 20 April.

This year’s shift in timing aligns seamlessly with the yachting calendar, offering an ideal juncture for yachts concluding their season in the UAE, Maldives, or Seychelles to journey north. The Jeddah Yacht Club (JYC) serves as a prime stopover to partake in the F1 festivities. Additionally, vessels starting their early Mediterranean season find Jeddah a convenient location to visit before heading back to Mediterranean waters.

Strategically located near King Abdulaziz International Airport, which provides direct flights to a multitude of popular destinations, the Jeddah Yacht Club significantly eases travel logistics for crew members, yacht owners, and charter guests. Nestled in a vibrant, modern city, the marina offers easy access to extensive urban amenities, including upscale malls, supermarkets, and specialised services such as event production and audiovisual support, ensuring a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

Infrastructure at the Jeddah Yacht Club

Jeddah Yacht Club is once again welcoming yachts, featuring six berths with prime track views. An additional berth, in close proximity to the track, along with others optimally positioned, leverages the combined amenities of the hotel and yacht club. In total, ten superyacht berths are available, of which a number have already been reserved. The marina supports a capacity of approximately 91 berths, accommodating superyachts ranging up to 115-metres.

Superyachts that have previously attended Formula 1 events in Jeddah include the 111.5-metre Lürssen Alaiya, the 108-metre Benetti IJE, and the 96-metre Devonport Vava II, further demonstrating the Jeddah Yacht Club‘s capacity to host larger superyachts during such events.

Services and amenities at the Jeddah Yacht Club

The Jeddah Yacht Club spans five floors, offering a range of lounges, dining options, a gym, spa, and beach club, all designed to cater to the needs of its maritime visitors. Adjacent to the marina and racetrack, the Marriott Edition five star hotel enhances the experience, having been recognised as the winner of the ‘Best Hotel Design’ at the Saudi Commercial Interior Design Awards 2024.

For arriving vessels, Jeddah Yacht Club provides an on-site international check-in/out facility. By utilising the Ebhar platform, formalities can be completed prior to arrival, streamlining the entry process. Additionally, a selection of yacht agents is available to assist with regulatory requirements and other necessary arrangements, ensuring an efficient and hassle-free experience.

The marina is equipped with a full range of services to accommodate visiting yachts. Each berth is supplied with ample power and water, alongside in-berth pump-out facilities and high-speed internet connectivity. Around-the-clock marina support services include 24/7 staff assistance, trollies, golf buggies, parking, and waste disposal. Additional conveniences include an on-site laundry facility and a modern fuel station offering Aramco-grade 10ppm diesel, dispensed directly to vessels along a 240-metre quay wall.

For guests looking to develop their maritime skills, the JYC Academy, an RYA-accredited training centre, offers a variety of courses at different proficiency levels. Sailing instruction is available for both dinghy and keel boats, alongside certifications for powerboat and jet ski operation. The academy also provides land-based courses, including First Aid certification, VHF radio operation, essential navigation, and day skipper navigation. Beyond its training programmes, JYC Academy hosts stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) sessions, e-foiling, and kayaking. The facility also serves as a dedicated space for yacht crew, featuring high-speed internet access, a hot desk office area, food and beverage services, and a fully equipped gym.

As the event approaches, this year’s Formula 1 race in Jeddah promises to deliver a completely different experience from previous editions.
